This charming part of the Pays Basque offers luscious green landscapes, situated in the countryside, in between the sea and mountains. An authentic farm from the 17th Century, restored in 1996, situated next to the village centre of Came, 5mins from Bidache and from Peyrehorade. The Basque coastline and beaches are reached in around 35mins by car

La Pouchoulanne welcomes you with 5 guest rooms on offer, including 1 for groups of 6 people. The guesthouse is located in the heart of cultural, sport and gastronomic activities. Ideally situated close to some of the most beautiful ‘fortified villages - bastides’ and castles rural Basque has to offer. Both walking and bike trails, departing from the guesthouse, lead you to discover the Charnego country: mi-Bernais, mi-Basque and mi-Gascon. La Pouchoulanne is a stunning, entirely restored guesthouse, surrounded by prairies with a beautiful, uninterrupted view of the Basque mountains and the most magnificent sunsets at the end of the day. allowing you to have a pleasant and relaxing stay. Relax and stroll through our expansive garden. A heated 4 x 11 m swimming pool is offered for our guests to enjoy, surrounded by a big terrace with sun loungers and large cushions available for comfort. The pool is designed to allow little ones to safely swim and play in the water under the careful supervision of parents. Shady areas under the large sun umbrella allow you to relax out of the summer sun. Wander around the property and make the most of the variety of little areas designed for you to enjoy a nap, share a drink or have a picnic with one of our picnic hampers - made up of locally-sourced products.

Our guest rooms

With 2 of our rooms on the ground floor and 3 upstairs on the first floor, rated by Gîtes de France, the guest house offers a total of 5 beautifully furnished rooms, all with modern, contemporary bathrooms and adjustable beds in some rooms.

On the ground floor: 2 rooms with 20/22m2 private en-suites, 1 specially designed to accommodate people with disabilities and wheel-chair access. The house is accessed from the car-parking area without any steps.

On the first floor: 3 rooms; one 33m2 in size (suitable for groups in a dormitory layout, with a private en-suite) all opening onto a large 100m2 communal lounge area furnished with a billiards table and a library.

Individual parking spaces for cars; and for our biker friends, an undercover garage for motorbikes is available.

A gourmet breakfast filled with ‘Mamino’s’ treats, served on the veranda, or terrace on sunny mornings.

Hampers filled with local products and wine from the Basque region are offered for picnics and evenings shared with friends.

Enjoy a relaxing time in the upstairs lounge area utilising the library and the billiards table. The ‘sur le pouce’ corner is equipped with a fridge and a microwave available for your use.

Surroundings and activities

Not far from the guesthouse, rural roads leading you to discover our beautiful countryside, are accessible to enjoy by walking or biking. The charming centre of Came village is found 2.5km from the guesthouse. Head to the old canal towpath, running alongside the Bidouze to explore the surrounding area. ‘Fortified villages’, ‘Bastides’ and castles can be found in several places from the guesthouse – Château de Bidache, La Bastide Clairence, Sordes l’abbaye, abbaye d’Arthous… to name a few.

For leisure activities, discover the Same aquatic park (wake-boarding, paddle boats, inflatable water structures and fishing) 8mins from Came, or the Base of Pop, in Guiche with its water slides found 10 mins from Came. In Bidache explore the mountain bike and hiking tracks. The equestrian centre ‘Mountagnès’ can be found 300m from the guesthouse.

For those passionate about food, found 5mins away from the guesthouse is the famous Peyrehorade market which attracts a large number of food-lovers with its high quality local products. The local artisan producers offer ham, cows-milk and sheeps-milk cheese, kiwifruit from l’Adour and from a little further afield wine from the Béarn region, Espelette chillis and many more delicacies!

For the passionate hikers, the Pyrénées mountains are situated just under an hour away by car. Providing the perfect escape, the valleys of ‘Irraty’ and ‘Ossau’ wait to be discovered.

Lastly, those passionate for the water, and mainly for surf, are treated to the immense beaches of the Landes region, reached in around 30mins from the guesthouse, along with Biarritz and Anglet. The Spanish border is around 45mins by car and San Sebastien 1 hour.
